I Need Nostradamus

Can it happen? The exciting signs are there. Has God decided that it’s time? Time for a coloured man to have a chance at the cunningly named ‘White House’.Senator Barack Obama, the black presidential candidate from the state of Illinois is causing a bit of a buzz in the U.S right now especially after his remarkable victory in the Iowa primaries. A state that’s 90% white,population-wise.His main rival & previously assumed Democratic Party nominee-in-waiting Hillary Clinton is worried, to the extent that she’s started lashing out desperately at Obama as being an inexperienced politician who talks a good talk without much substance attached.
The irony of it all is that Barack Obama reminds many Americans (particularly the youths) of Sen. Clinton’s extremely popular spouse back in the day: a young, energetic, brilliant & visually appealing candidate who preaches change & hope. The only & significant difference is Osama’s colour. Are Americans ready to put that aside for the sake of a new beginning? Many cynics (including myself, I must confess) may say no. Not in a hundred years. However, stranger things had happened in the history of mankind. The latest polls from New Hampshire (venue of the next round of primaries) show Obama with an 11% lead over Bill Clinton’s wife.Hugely influential Oprah Winfrey is solidly behind the Harvard/Columbia University alumni and that, we know, is valuable.Yes, Hillary’s campaign team has a larger purse & are possibly better organized, but where was all that when she lost to Obama in Iowa last week?
I read that fire marshals had to be called in to prevent a stampede at the rally the 46-yr old African-American was holding in New Hampshire yesterday. Supporters of Senator Obama had thronged in their thousands attempting to enter the overpopulated cafeteria hall. The buzz is strong. Blacks are salivating. Young America is believing. The voting numbers have more than trebled compared to 4 years ago, possibly due to new-found enthusiasm amongst the electorate. Was Martin Luther King’s ‘I have A Dream’ speech a 45 yrs-in-advance hint? Can he get to lead the United States with its 75% white majority? Can life imitate art & place the young man, with the Kenyan father, in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue come January next year, a la President Palmer in the hit show,24?Time,they say, would definitely tell. My goodness, how I wish I had Nostradamus right here in front of me.

I don’t need Nostradamus to see this, I believe it can happen and YES it will happen. I have been following the 'White house '08' for a while now and guess the interesting thing ,I have not seen a single Black in his campaign team or crowd that yearns to shake him or listen to him .Yes I know blacks are in the minority, but majority of those routing for him are whites. Two things can stop him, God says the time is not now ,Death or Election rigging.
I have no apologies for catching the Obamamaina bug even though am a woman. Hillary has shown she has noting to offer not even charisma!

theres always the believe that things 'will happen' as a result of what we desperately wish for...i used to think it was a long shot for obama, now i dont think so anymore.
i personally root for him(lets keep the girl power aside here,i'll deviate to 'black power' for this topic), i think he's intelligent plus he's kind of cute...lol'
on a seroius note, america is developed to the tilt and has been ready for lots of things since forever, but a black president, who isnt 100% american or a female president? i dont think so.

but then peeps love to say 'shit happens', lets hope it really does and in favour of obama.

Chakams, i can sense that you are softening your stance on Obama a little... last week you were fire and brimstone against the possibility, but now you seem willing to entertain the discussion...

Obama really have a chance. if he can take NH (which didn't seem remotely likely two weeks ago) then he stands a very good chance... Here is what will happen. Edwards will barely have enough money for a cab ride back to the airport if he doesn't win NH (which he won't), and without money he will probably drop out of the race. if he does that and Obama wins NH, then he will more likely endorse Obama. if people in the south believe that Obama will pick him as the VP, then the south will turn to Obama, and if that happens, then its game set and match for Hillary.

Now winning the presidential race after winning the democratic nomination is a whole other issue that we can debate if we reach that bridge.

i wonder who CNN is polling to get the wide margin Obama has over Hillary. i was listening to a local radio station that covers Maine, MA and NH over the weekend and nobody that called in said they'll vote for Obama. word on the street has Hillary way ahead in my book. i can't wait for the real results.

Yes....The time is here. The time is now.
We must, as a matter of course, join hands in fellowship....
Hands locked in a cathedral of prayer..........
In a salute of faith.......Bound by one vision so profound........
To work the promise and live the fate.
THIS INDEED........IS THE APPOINTED TIME.

Wake up people... Do you really a black optimistic neophyte is going to make it to the whitehouse? I see Florida(rigging) coming

I see a man, who happens to be American.
Most definately NOT " a black optimistic Neophyte ".
I see a LEADER possessed of very high intellect.....equiped with the right particulars.
I see an America, captured by a common purpose.....driven by a onerous vision to set new bench marks / paradigms.
Let us not think the ' White House ' now.......This is but early days.
But allow us to celebrate the journey / the promise that will take America there............
This is it....The INEVITABLE staring at us in the face.

Hello, people
I have been following comments on blogs , TIMe and even CNN all predominantly owned by whites
and all throwing the color, race and experience(Clinton has non from all new reports ) into the trash bin.
Obama stands for the new American dream which is what we are all looking forward to. Early results from NH shows 7-2 Obama - Clinton. John Edwards has said if he loses in NH he would join Obama, I really don’t trust him but lets wait and see.

The race is still on Kerry just endorsed Obama .

Chakams said...

Yes,laide...Kerry'e endorsement is a boost...perhaps just as important is the recent endorsement of Obama by the Nevada Workers Union..the union for the thousands of workers in Las Vegas..i.e. casino workers, hotel staff etc..with that amount of support,it's safe to assume that Obama would most likely clinch Nevada

ok ok its been a long time since this post was been updated but a lot of water has passed under the bridge.
Blacks who doubt Obama could do so because of a "slave mentality. The slave mentality compels us to say 'We can't win. We can't
But we are saying YES WE CAN !
what about you ?

but pls check this out ----

"Yes he did!" And I for one welcome the possibility of seeing what he can offer. Are the racists and naysayers forgetting that B.Obama is only half black? I understand for some race is a huge [maybe the biggest] issue...but those days are dying quick, he won, everyone should remind their friends "if you didn't vote, don't bitch".
